The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Anger About Sizing Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
